EDNA ETHEL McFARLAND (née Hudson), beloved wife of the late Gordon McFarland, passed away peacefully at the Taber Health Centre in Taber, Alberta on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the grand age of 97 years. Edna was born in London, Ontario on October 26, 1921. She spent her childhood living on the family farm near Devizes. She married her husband Gord on December 13, 1946, eventually settling in Stratford, Ontario where she lived until 2013. In Stratford, she became a real estate agent and worked for many years at ReMax Realty Ltd. She had a keen fondness for curling, golfing, playing bridge, attending weekly auctions and collecting antiques. Edna truly loved her dog Meo and kept a picture of him beside her at all times. Edna was a member of the Stratford chapter of the I.O.D.E., and loved her volunteer time spent with the Friends of the Stratford Festival for many years. In November of 2013, she moved into a retirement home in Lethbridge, Alberta to be closer to her brother Ken and other family members. She aged with grace but found it frustrating that she could no longer see or hear the curling, golf and baseball games, but remained a huge fan of the Scotties, PGA and Blue Jays to her final days. Edna missed her many friends in southern Ontario and did her best to keep in touch once she moved west. They knew and loved her for who she was. They will be comforted to know that she was stubborn and commanding to the end. She loved to be in control and always called the shots, and this was accepted by all. Edna is survived by her brother Ken (Ruth) Hudson and numerous nephews and nieces, and family members scattered across Canada. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Ella and Roy Hudson, husband Gordon, brother Harry (May) Hudson, sister Hazel Waite, and nephew Steven Hudson. Interment will take place at a later date in Stratford, Ontario. To send a condolence, please visit www.cornerstonefuneralhome.com
