With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of Eric John ‘Ricky’ Campbell, on Monday, August 19, 2019, at MacGillivary Guest Home, Sydney after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Whitney Pier on February 16, 1946, Eric was the son of the late John Duncan and Mary Elizabeth ‘Tillie’ Campbell.
Eric was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Morrison) Campbell; siblings, Diane (John) Rolls and Danny (Donna) Campbell; in-laws, the Morrisons; children, Sheilla Legere, Benita MacIntyre, Belinda Campbell, Lisa Peddle and Robbie MacDonald. Eric was known as Uncle Ricky to many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Eric was predeceased by his brother, Robert Duncan.
Visitation and Memorial service to celebrate the life of Eric John Campbell will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier on Thursday, August 29, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the reception area of the funeral home. Private family burial will take place in New Calvary Cemetery, Whitney Pier at a later date.
Donations in Eric’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Society or the Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
At this time, the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff at MacGillivary Guest Home for their professional and tender care of Eric at his time of need.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home.
