Obituary of Art Greene
Members of Harold Francis “Art” Greene’s family are sorry to announce his passing after battling with cancer. Art passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the age of 73 years. He was residing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Protective Care Unit.
Leaving to mourn are his sisters Susan Flynn (Roderick) and Philomena Cornect (John James) and a large circle of family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Philomena (nee Cox) and Thomas Greene. Brothers; William; George (Janet); Thomas (Marjorie); Patrick; Stephen (Edna); and Aloysius (June). Sisters; Marion Bullen (Gordon); Kathleen Snook (Henry James); Stella (Glen Thorne); Laverna Smith (Terry); and Sarah Hinks (Reginald).
Art loved everything about the great outdoors including his life as a fisherman, hunter, woodsman and berry picker. He also loved indoor activities such as darts, playing cards and bingo. Everyone knows he loved his “scratch” tickets and his smokes!
For the last 13 years of his life Art lived with his sister Susan in West Bay. At this time, Art was included in all aspects of her family and their lives and the lives of his extended family. He and his sister Susan were company for each other and looked after each other in various ways. Already he is missed by everyone, especially his sisters Susan and Philomena.
Art’s family wish to thank the staff at The Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and The Bay St. George Long Term Care facility for their superb care and attention given to Art and family members during his stay at the hospital and the Protective Care Unit.
Cremation has already taken place. Visitation will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2019. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, September 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Lourdhu Raju Madanu officiating. Burial will follow at the West Bay Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
