Darlene Joan
Thomas – 75, Truro,
passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Port Alberni, British Columbia,
she was a daughter of the late James and Winona (Beales)
Thomas.
Darlene was a hero, veteran paramedic and firefighter and
Legionaire but most of all, she was a fighter and big family person.
While working at Walmart in Fort St. John, British Colmbia, she
received the BC Ambulance Hero Award because of her quick action to
save the life of a gentleman who collapsed due to a heart attack.
Darlene did the walk-a-thon at Pomeroy Sports Centre to raise money
for Hope Air. She will be missed and never forgotten; you lived your
life high and proud and were there whenever we needed
you.
Darlene is survived by her daughters, Zsuzsy (Bert) Sanford,
Attleboro, Massachusetts, USA; Zeta Raloczy (Michael Singer), Debert;
granddaughters, Caroline Hall, Demi Ava Delorme; great grandchildren,
Lily and Lucas Hall; siblings and spouses, Glady Thomas, George
(Linsey) Rogers, John (Vicki) Rogers, Robert Fink, Sharon Steele
(Carl, deceased), Lynn (Tony) Small, Leslie (Tom) Neivelle; many
nieces and nephews; K9 companion and faithful friend, Russell. Along
with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Jim Thomas;
sisters, Colleen Fink, Charmaine Lemon.
Celebration of Darlene’s life will be held at a
later date in Port Alberni, British Columbia. If so desired, donations
to Honour House Society (This is a place for families of first
responders who are receiving medical treatment to stay.) or Hope Air
(Provides free flights for patients requiring medical care.) are
welcomed as these two charities were very close to Darlene’s
heart and she spent countless hours fundraising for
both.
