Wayne Joseph Thomas Duquette, 68, of Stettler, AB, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at his home.
Wayne was born on March 16, 1951 in Mattawa, ON to Arnel and Phyllis (Curran) Duquette. He was the youngest and only boy of 5 children. Wayne grew up in Mattawa, then moved to Alberta in his twenties in search of work opportunities. Wayne met Debbie (Campbell) in 1979 in Calgary, and they were married in 1982. Shortly thereafter they moved to Lloydminster and area, and lastly to Stettler in 1995.
Wayne was employed as a journeyman carpenter most of his life. He enjoyed his career which took him to many places over Canada. He enjoyed working and took pride in building and renovating structures, and only retired a few years prior to his passing. In his retirement Wayne enjoyed cooking, baking his famous bread, gardening, tinkering in his garage and spending time with his family. He loved to sing and play his guitar and we especially treasured his wonderful sense of humour. We fondly remember him as the king of “dad jokes”, he always had a groaner for us.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Debbie; three children: daughter, Louanne of Nanaimo, BC, son, Tyler (Denee) of Abernethy, SK, and son, David (Leanne) of Stettler, AB; eight grandchildren: Erika, Dakota, Mace, Tianna, Tristan, Nicholas, Phylisity, and Jack; one great-grandson, Lucas; sisters, Shirley (Vic) Dimick and Doreen Dorion (late Rheal); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Arnel and Phyllis, and his sisters Marlin Sparks and Gail Rockburn.
A memorial service and celebration of life will follow in September; please watch for notice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Wayne’s memory.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Wayne J T Duquette 2019..
