Velia CHIOCCHIO (nee Lelii)
With saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Velia on July 13th 2019 at St. Peter’s Hospital in her 78th year. Velia is survived by her beloved husband Fausto, to whom she has been married for 50 years. Velia leaves behind her children Alberto (Linda) Chiocchio, Cinzia Chiocchio Orme, Ada (Mark) Mussner. Will be fondly remembered by her adored grandchildren Christina (Christopher) Zajac, Titina Chiocchio, Velia Chiocchio, Jagur Orme, Tessa Orme, and Koen Mussner. Velia is predeceased by her parents Gemma and Giuseppe Lelii, as well as her in-laws Adalgisa and Alberto Chiocchio. Dearest sister of Lucia (late Gaspare Ruffilli) the late Giovanna Lelii, the late Italo Lelii (late Gilda) as well as the late Antonio Lelii (Giovanna). Cherished sister-in-law of Adriana and the late Valentino De Bellis, Luciana and the late Mario Ventresca, as well as Livio and Fulvia Marinilli. Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends both in Canada and Italy. Velia was born in Sulmona, L’Aquila, Italy and moved to Canada in 1964 where she met the love of her life, Fausto. She will always be remembered for her steadfast devotion to her family, whom she cherished dearly, even going so far as travelling to Italy to care for her ailing parents, in-laws, and siblings in their time of need. She will always be fondly remembered for her dedication and commitment to the Alpini Association of Hamilton, in particular the catering department. We wish to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for the exceptional kindness and compassion demonstrated towards our mother and our family. Friends and relatives will be received at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E. on Wednesday July 17th from 2-5p.m. and 6-9p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 8:45p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Anthony’s Church on Thursday, July 18th 2019 at 10a.m. with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
