Stephen Brendon Tyrrell
1944-2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Stephen
Tyrrell on Monday, July 22nd, 2019 at his home
in Fredericton, NB. Stephen was born in Sutton, Surrey,
England on February 17th, 1944 to the late
Frederick and Catherine Dey (Imlach) Tyrrell.
Stephen’s father died in WWII shortly after he was
born. He, his mother and brother, Frederick immigrated to
Canada in 1956 and settled in Montreal. Stephen joined the
RCAF after high school and served first as a Radio Officer then as an
Air Navigator on the Argus and Aurora Aircrafts. He retired
from the military in 1989 after 27 years.
In retirement he enjoyed many outdoor activities and was a
member of the Fredericton Trap and Skeet Club, the Springfield Sports
Club and the Fredericton Fish and Game Club as well as being a member
of VPI International. He also studied Gaelic for many years
with Virginia.
He will be greatly missed by his soul mate of 35 years,
Virginia Thomson; son, Robert (Tasha) and their children, Tyson,
Tanner and Emmie; son, Peter (Samantha) and their children, Jack and
Nicholas; son Andrew (Rachel) and her daughter, Katelynn; Sarah Brown
(Tim) and their children, Molly and Simon; his children’s
mother, Kathryn Tyrrell as well as many extended family and
friends.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents and brother,
Frederick.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on
Monday, July 29th, 2019 from 10 am –
12 noon with the funeral service beginning at noon. All are
welcome to stay and share memories following the service.
The Ven. John Sharpe will officiate. In lieu of flowers,
memorial tributes in Stephen’s honor may be made to the NB
Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the
Kidney Foundation.
