Roy Scott King
February 7, 1938 – July 10, 2019
After a lengthy illness, Roy died at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday July 10th, 2019. Roy King, of Picton, born and raised in Victoria Cove, Gander Bay, NL, at the age of 81. Beloved husband for fifty-two years of Dorothy (nee Dunlop). Loved father of Angela of Red Deer, AB and Sheri of Toronto. Dear brother of Archie (and the late Joyce), Margie (Laurence), Roxanne (Jim), Gloria (Wayne), Mark (Wanda), Enid, Lorne (Carol) and brother-in-law of Kate (and the late Bob), Tom (and the late Joyce), Patsy (and the late Norman), Ann, Warren, John, Marjorie and Beverly (and the late Calvin). Remembered fondly by his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Enlisted in the army at 19 in St. John’s NL, he was based in Camp Picton for 3 years. After brief employment in Ottawa, he returned to PEC and was employed for several years at Proctor where he met Dorothy. Roy subsequently gained employment with the Federal Government from which he retired after a 30 year career.
Among his varied interests, Roy enjoyed gardening and spending time in nature and was an avid photographer capturing PEC and Canada’s beauty through his lens. His interest in photography eventually grew to include portraits and weddings. A lover of music, Roy played guitar and for several years was a member of the family band The Dunlop Orchestra.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Roy’s life will be announced at a later date.
