CIAVATTONE, Pietro – Passed away peacefully, with his loving family at his side, on Saturday July 6, 2019 in his 75th year. Dearly beloved husband of 50 years to Maria Ciavattone. Reunited in heaven with his predeceased son, Anthony Ciavattone. Cherished and devoted father of Lucy (Domenic) Ioannoni and Dan (Meaghan) Ciavattone. Dear father-in-law of Freda Mihas-Ciavattone. Pietro will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Nicholas, Larissa, Peter, David Anthony and Sofia. Dear brother of Maria (the late Enio) Romanelli and Panfilo (Carmela) Ciavattone and brother-in-law of Flavia (Francesco) LoStrappo. Pietro will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and his cousins in Sulmona, Italy. Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Angela Ciavattone and his in-laws Giovanni and Enia Bucci. Pietro came to Canada in 1966 to start his family in Niagara Falls. He will be remembered as a very diligent and meticulous cabinet maker, establishing a woodworking business, Niagara Store Fixtures Inc. in Niagara Falls. He loved woodcarving and was also an avid cyclist having cycled throughout Italy for many years. Pietro was also an ALPINI in Italy (an elite corps of the Italian Mountain Army) prior to immigrating to Canada. He was also devoted to the Alpini Association in Welland, Ontario. Family and friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Vigil prayers will be celebrated Tuesday at 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. Thomas More Church. The Rite of Entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum. In memory of Mr. Ciavattone, donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice Niagara (403 Ontario Street, St. Catharines) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
