Magnolia Teo passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 8:52 pm with her daughter Evelyn and son-in-law Timothy by her side at the age of 90 years. She is gone but not forgotten and will be deeply missed, loved, and remembered as a wonderful human being.
Magnolia was the second eldest of ten siblings and she was a guiding force in her own, independent, way for her siblings. Though tiny in stature, she was a “giant” in many ways. She always had wonderful stories to share and she was a magnificent storyteller. Her always generously open heart had an inspiringly immense capacity to care for her loved ones, friends, and strangers alike. She had a deep love for God, with whom she re-connected later in life. Magnolia always made it a priority to spend time daily in His words and she was a staunch prayer warrior. Despite the many challenges and adversities she had in her life, she submitted all to God’s will, embraced life with joy, and found fun in all her possibilities. Magnolia’s warmth and generosity of spirit touched all who knew her.
Magnolia was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, KWEK Bock Siong in 1983, as well as six of her siblings. She is survived by her only child Evelyn (Timothy); two grandsons, Marko (Alena) and Desmond (Caley); four great-grandchildren, Cole, Ellia, Cadence, and Matthew; three sisters, Elsie, Joyce, and Molly; twelve nieces; five nephews; and numerous extended family.
Magnolia, together with her daughter Evelyn and family, wished to thank each and every single person who crossed paths with her for their love, kindness, care and friendship in both the good and the not so good times. As per Magnolia’s wishes, cremation will be taking place and her family will be celebrating her life with a private memorial at a later date. Rather than the normal service style celebration, Magnolia asked to be remembered as she was and for all to know that she is in a better place awaiting the Lord to take her home for eternity.
