Kelly Martin Breaker of Siksika Nation, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the age of 43 years. Kelly was born on March 20, 1976. He graduated from the Strathmore High School in 1994 and attended Alberta College of Arts. Kelly was known to have an enormous sense of humour with a very silly nature. Kelly’s interests lay in the Art field, being very creative, he was known for his traditional crafts and many pieces of artwork that he created throughout the years. As a volunteer with the Calgary Stampede, Kelly loved his interactions with the public while working with the Interpretive Program. Kelly was a currently a member of the Matrix program on the Siksika Nation. Throughout his young life, Kelly worked in various areas on Siksika Nation, namely with the Siksika Family Services Resource Center, as well as in an administrative role with Siksika Justice. Kelly made his Cursillo and continued working with this movement thereafter. Kelly was a proud member of the Siksika Nation. He will be dearly missed and was treasured by everyone he encountered but the family is comforted in knowing that he is now with his mother Marie who he dearly missed in life. Kelly is survived by his sister Delores (Marcell) Right Hand; brothers, Dwayne (Dionza) Breaker and Russell (Delcy) Running Bird; stepfather Arther Bear Chief; adoptive sister Louann Solway; mom #2 Rachel First Rider; grandmother Christine Little Chief ; great aunts, Isabel Olivier & Joan Munro; aunties and uncles, Leo (Maureena) Pretty Young Man, Deanna (Bruce) Starlight, Rufus (Yvonne) Pretty Young Man; Debbie (Dwight) Smith, Louise (Jason) Doore, Leanne (Jonathan) Sleigh, Andrew & Caroline Bear Robe, Noreen Breaker, Patricia Breaker, Fred Breaker, Bernice Wolf Child and traditional uncle Fred Saunders. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended families, Breaker, Turning Robe, Axe, Brass, Black, Backfat, Waterchief, Maguire, Cutter, Pretty Young Man, Crow Chief, Sitting Eagle, Good Eagle, Three Suns, Spring Chief, Yellow Horse, Weasel Head, Spring Chief, Black Kettle, Calf, Bear Robe, Calf Robe, Medicine Shield, Big Snake, Sleigh, Black Rider, Olivier, Little Chief, Running Rabbit, and Solway. He was predeceased by his parents Nick Breaker Sr. and Marie Bear Chief; brothers, Martin Breaker, Bradley Breaker, Nick Breaker Jr, Anthony (Tony) Breaker and Kevin Running Bird; grandparents Chief Leo Youngman and Alma Young Man; grandparents, Fred and Ada Breaker; aunties and uncles, Lena Pretty Young Man, Faye Pretty Young Man, Andy Pretty Young Man, Harvey Pretty Young Man, Edward Wolf Child; Roy Breaker, Eileen Breaker, and Richard Breaker.
Wake Services will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2019, at the Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbor for family members from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, and thereafter open to the public. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday July 17, 2019 at 12:00 pm. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
