CANNING (ROCKWELL) , Doris Faye
We would like to celebrate our angel, Doris Faye Canning of Gays River Road. Born in Windsor, Faye was our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was the daughter of George Gilbert Rockwell (who gave his life in WWII) and Viola Fitzgerald, and stepdaughter of Fitz Fitzgerald.
Mom passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 3, 2019.
Faye is survived by her children, Douglas, Jim (Sharon), Colleen, Sherry (Peter), John (Amanda) and daughter in-law, Lori; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; siblings, Blaine (Dianne), Glen (Linda), Bruce (Denise), Jim (Susan), Sheryl (Bob) and Debbie (Reid); sister in-law, Freda; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband, Ray; son, Alan; grandson, John Edward; siblings; Gerald, Rita and Joe.
Faye was the light of many peoples lives. If she wasn’t in her garden, she would be making meals feeding people. If she wasn’t rug hooking, she was knitting hats and puppets for the food bank. She was a special lady who gave to everyone in many different ways. Her house was always full of people, and everyone was welcome. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the zest of her life.
We would like to send a special thank you to all the home care workers who made it possible for her to stay home where she wanted to be.

In honour of Faye, please wear bright colours at her celebration service to be held 6pm Saturday, July 6th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area.
