Donald’s Obituary
Don Olstead, also known by many of his friends and family as Dale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the age of 82, after a long battle with cancer. His loving wife, Denise was at his bedside.
Don was loved, and will be missed and remembered by his daughter, Jodi; his sons, Jerry, Rob, and Dave; his grandsons, Brandon, Quenton, Kye, and Zachary; and his sister, Dareth, Don was predeceased by his sister Orlean and brothers James and William. Don leaves behind many other family members and friends.
Don’s family extends their most heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Valleyview General Hospital who took such excellent care of Don and showed such kindness and compassion during his final days. We would also like to thank the many other caregivers who supported Don during his illness. In particular, we would like to thank Dr. Erik Beuker from Grande Prairie who Don referred to as his nephew, as well as Dr Lucas Verberg, Don’sfamily doctor.
A service for Don will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 20, 2019. In accordance with Don’s wishes, a reception will not be held; however, the service will be followed by an intimate gathering of family and invited guests.The Church is located at 4104 51 Ave, Valleyview, Alberta.
