DONAHUE, Darlene “Dee”
On July 17, 2019, Darlene “Dee” Donahue of Whitecourt, AB, formerly of Blue Ridge, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 74 years.
Darlene leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Deana (Darin) Kastelic of Sangudo, AB, Andrea (David Lovich) Donahue of Blue Ridge, AB, her grandchildren, and the lights of her life, Hannah, Noah, Sophia and Colton; brother-in-law, Patrick (Doris Kallbom) Donahue; sister-in-law, Myrna (Cy) Dorras and many dear relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Larry; daughter, Dawn Michelle; father, Albert; mother, Violet; stepfather, Jack; brother, Ron; and brother-in-law, George.
Dee will be remembered for her generous heart and love for family and friends. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was their biggest cheerleader. A country girl at heart, Dee enjoyed her life on the farm, in the garden and being with the animals. Since moving to Whitecourt, she enjoyed her time playing crib with the seniors, attending seniors’ trips and functions, volunteering at Bingo and having fun with her many dear friends. Known for her determined and “tough as nails” nature, she never let her health struggles get in the way of her happiness and goals in life. She approached each day with optimism. Dee will be dearly missed by all those privileged to have known her. We can all find comfort knowing Dee has been reunited with Larry in everlasting peace.
Thank you to the staff of the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre and Mayerthorpe Homecare, Whitecourt Homecare staff and Dr. Ojedokun for their compassion and support in meeting Darlene’s final wish to pass at home.
A Celebration of Darlene’s Life will be held Saturday, July 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Community Hall, 304 – 2 Avenue, Blue Ridge. A private inurnment will take place in Blue Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation – Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
