Antonio Alfonsi
January 20, 1924 – June 29, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Antonio Alfonsi on June 29, 2019, in his 97th year. Antonio was the loving husband for 65 years, to Irma (Amadio) Alfonsi; cherished father to Luciana (John) and Fiorella (John); beloved nonno to his grandchildren, Daniel (Rose), Marika (Drew), Nadia (Mike), Rachel, Lauren and adoring bisnonno to Audrey and Everly. Antonio is predeceased by his parents, Guido and Elisa Alfonsi, his brothers Ernesto and Emidio and his sisters Celeste Cannella and Irma Brandozzi (Antonio) from Italy. He is survived by his sisters Gemma Mancini (late Zelindo) and Elvira Perugini (Peppino). Antonio was a valued employee of Union Gas and retired from his custodian position at the Learning Materials Centre with the HWCDSB. Antonio enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing cards and making homemade pasta for his family. His sense of humour, practical jokes and adventurous spirit will be fondly remembered by family and friends. Antonio spent the last two years comfortably enjoying the amenities at Villa Italia. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful staff of Villa Italia for their attentive and compassionate care. Family and friends will be received at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL at 43 Barton St. East, on Friday, July 5, from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church (Prospect and Barton St.) on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Burlington. In lieu of flowers donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
