Memorial Donation
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sandy Oliver Rowsell of Springdale, NL, age 95, announces his passing, on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale.
Sandy was born on May 6, 1924 in Miles Cove, to Warrick and Naomi Rowsell. At the age of 12 years old he moved to Springdale, where he was adopted by George Normore. At the age of 15 he went to work in the logging camps in the Buchans and Millertown area. Later in life he met and married Pearl Fannie Robinson on March 9, 1946. Together, they raised five children.
Sandy worked in the mines for a few years, before him and Pearl started their own upholstery business together in the early 1970’s and worked at this until retirement. In his spare time he loved to spend time working in the garden, cutting firewood, and fishing out in his boat. He also spent many hours at his cabin at Indian River Falls, spending time with his family. Sandy thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren; who were his prize possessions.
He is predeceased by his wife Pearl Rowsell; parents Warrick and Naomi Rowsell; son Roy Rowsell; daughter Barbara Rowsell; brothers Art Rowsell, George Rowsell; sister Bertha Reid.
Left with fond and loving memories are his children Shawn Rowsell (Michelle), Pauline Rowsell-MacDonald (Wade), Roger Rowsell; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends. Sandy will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. They will cherish his memory forever. Gone – But Not Forgotten!
There will be no visitation or service, cremation will take place.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
