Robert Amos Pickard
It is with
heavy hearts that we announce, Robert (Bob) Pickard, 86, of Moncton,
passed away peacefully at his residence with his loving family by his
side on Monday, June 24, 2019.
Born in
Campbellton, NB, he was the son of the late Amos and Winnifred
(Wright) Pickard.
He left his
occupation in the electrical department of Fraser’s Paper
Mill in Atholville, NB in 1956 to join Canadian General Electric
Company in Peterborough, ON. For the next 28 years he was
transferred several times throughout eastern Canada in management
positions, leaving the company in
1984.
It was at
this time that a new opportunity arose where he was recruited by
Guillivin Int. (a large electrical distributor) to form a new
subsidiary (National Cable Specialists) in the electrical power cable
industry as Senior Vice President, leaving them upon retirement in
1998.
He and his
loving wife, Claudette, after living in Quebec and Ontario for many
years, returned to their roots as Maritimers to live in New Brunswick
in 2009. They took up residence at Royal Oaks in Moncton,
lured by golf, his favourite
sport.
While no
longer with us, Bob will be remembered by friends and business
associates for his joy and positive outlook on life. However, he will
be especially and warmly remembered by his family for his generosity,
thoughtfulness and unwavering love expressed in life and particularly
during the numerous holidays and family gatherings enjoyed throughout
the years.
Bob will be
sadly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Claudette (Savoie); sons,
Jeff (Donna) of Calgary, AB and Brian of Toronto, ON; grandchildren,
Jacklyn Pickard-Conroy (David) of Belfast, Ireland and Jared Pickard
of Calgary; great grandchildren, Lottie, Elsie, Ezra and
Eli.
In addition
to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Gary and sister, Ruth
Foley (late Gordon).
A memorial
service will take place in Calgary, Alberta at a later
date.
Fergusons
Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of
arrangements.
In memory of
Bob, donations to the NB Lung Association or the Heart &
Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences for the
