Paul Douglas MacDonald
1965-2019
Sadly after the hardest life lesson of all, we, Paul Douglas
MacDonald’s proud, loving children and wife say « Thank you for
the love and guidance » to our courageous, adored father and
husband on his passing this 14th day of June 2019. Paul was born to
Maxwell Parker Cairns and Evelyn Frances (nee Singer, MacDonald)
Cairns in Saint John, NB on July 21st 1965.
Paul’s immediate family are; (sadly estranged) loved daughter Jodi
(Millan) Brown, Moncton, loved daughter Rosalie (Taylor McCready),
Passekeag, loved son Lucas, Passekeag, loved wife Louise(nee
Totton)and his loved pup pup HOSS. He leaves his loved brother Tony
MacDonald(Kathy) and loved sister Cindy MacDonald(Jim), his nieces and
nephews, numerous sisters in law and brothers in law. His extended
family includes sisters Linda Bellow, Brenda Newman (Chuck),Judy
Johnson(Don) and brother Don MacDonald(Diane). He was predeceased by
his parents and sisters Mary Leslie, Leona Ballard and Debbie
Comeau.
Paul enjoyed his life living it to the fullest. In his early
years he excelled at sports, friendships and parties. Later he did his
best to be a good father, husband and person. After working various
jobs (Centracare) Paul enjoyed being an active stay at home father, a
Safway employee and then settling at Crosby’s Molasses. He was
thankful for friendships formed and laughter shared. Paul spent many
happy moments playing poker/crib with his buddies(even winning a time
or two),enjoying family time and picking special treasures to resell.
We stopped at a yard sale his last day of dialysis. Paul was an
example of why a man should not be judged by his mistakes but by his
actions following them.
Paul did not want to make people sad. We ask that you
remember him with a smile and a funny story. He will try to attend any
and all fishing trips, parties and poker games he is invited to
attend.
Paul sends his sincere Thank you to his dialysis team: The 4
Doctors, Wonderful Nurses, Compassionate Nursing staff, Stunning
support staff and Inspiring co-patients (friends). His thank you and
appreciation gives special mention to Dr. S. Bagnell who saw the man
behind the illness and treated him first. Your expertise and skill
gave him extra time. Dr. Allaby (Sus) for providing excellent care
and showing compassion to the whole family, Dr. Desmond and Hazel for
their prompt action when we needed it the most, Dr. R.
Stevenson for fitting Paul into his busy schedule on short notice and
the Extramural « Multitudes » for making this difficult
journey bearable.
In keeping with Paul’s wishes arrangements have
been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063
Main Street, Hampton, NB. There will be no visitation, a private
memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Paul may be made to The Canadian
Kidney Foundation, The Extra-mural or to a memorial of the
