Pansy Maxine Hiltz
1931-2019
Pansy Maxine (Reeves) Hiltz, 87, of Forties Settlement, New
Ross, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville. Born on August 1, 1931, she was the daughter of
the late Harold and Verna (Swinimer) Reeves. Known for her cooking
abilities and her love of flowers, Pansy also loved a good game of
45’s, berry picking, going for drives, wreath making, quilting and
caning. Many friends, neighbors and family benefited from her gifts.
With Foster, her husband of over 55 years, they were instrumental
leaders in raising the funds to build the new Forties Community
Centre. Pansy worked tirelessly to beautify her community including
the Fraxville Corner, the church and community center. Pansy always
opened her door to anyone and didn’t hesitate to put a plate
on the table and extra potato in the pot. When the church needed
painting and Pansy was unable to climb a ladder, she opened her home
to prepare dinner for all the workers. Over the years she participated
in many community activities including the Forties Garden Club for
over 50 years, where she was a Life Member, St. Augustine’s
Guild, the Forties Community Centre and was instrumental in starting
the well-known Fotries Community Centre Community Suppers. Pansy is
survived by children, Sheila McKeand, Forties; Kevin, Forties; Vanda
(Eric) Dow, Coldbrook and Bradford (Ruth), Blockhouse; beloved
grandchildren, Tyler and Todd Dow, Chloe Hiltz, Benjamin, Jack and
Diana Hiltz; sisters, Elsie French, New Hampshire, Elva Bezanson,
Maitland; sisters in law, Lottie, Joan, Myrna and Jean; many nieces

sister, Madeline; an infant sister, Beatrice; sisters-in-law, Dot,
Reta, Abbie, Kay, Marie, Ina, Evelyn and Della; brothers-in-law,

held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 in the Forties Community
Centre. Cremation will take place after visitation with a funeral
service held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2019 in St.
Augustine’s Anglican Church, Forties, with Reverend Laura
McCue officiating. Burial will follow immediately in St.
Augustine’s Anglican Church Cemetery, and a reception will
follow at the Forties Community Centre. The family would like to
extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the V.O.N, Home Care
Support and the Valley Regional Hospital who provided wonderful care
and support. Flowers are welcomed. Donations in memory may be sent to
St. Augustine’s Anglican Church Guild, Forties Community
Centre, Forties Garden Club and Victorian Order of Nurses. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
A mother will do all these things with unconditional love,
and she won’t stop just because you’re older.
