McGinn, Olga Mae
It is with great sadness that the family of Olga Mae McGinn (nee Kaviuk) announces her passing, peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89 years on Thursday, May 30th, 2019. Olga was predeceased by Donald, her loving husband of over 60 years. She is survived by sons Scott (Gail) and James (Wayne) and many nieces and nephews.
Olga will be remembered for her curiosity, creativity and keen intelligence, her gentle and loving nature and her quiet determination to overcome her many health challenges. To the very end she possessed a strong drive to continue learning and broadly enhancing her knowledge, an invaluable gift she bestowed upon her children. She was an excellent seamstress, created beautiful stained-glass pieces, loved gardening and bird watching and became, alongside our father, a singular role model for her sons.
Olga did not desire a formal, public farewell service.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and volunteers at Health Sciences North. Anyone who wishes to leave a remembrance in her name may do so by placing a donation with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
