Michael Edward Weeks (Mike), age 68, unexpectedly passed away June 4, 2019. He was born on October 12th, 1950 in Summerland, British Columbia to Edward “Ted” and Betty Weeks. He graduated from Summerland Secondary school in 1968 and went on to attend the University of British Columbia where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce. Michael moved to Prince George, British Columbia to work for Winspear Higgens Stevenson and Co. which later merged with Deloitte Haskens and Sells.
He met his wife Monica Wilson while working in the same office complex in Prince George. Mike and Monica were married July 27, 1985. Mike and Monica moved to Moberly Lake, British Columbia in 1991, to raise their two kids, Derek and Pasley and start a private accounting practice in Chetwynd, British Columbia. Mike successfully ran the business for 25+ years and became an integral part of the Chetwynd community.
Mike absolutely loved golfing and could often be found at the Moberly Lake golf course doing a round of 18 with Monica and his beloved golf cart. Mike became a member of the Moberly Lake golf course in 1991 and maintained his membership throughout his life. Mike was an active contributor to the golf club and served as Treasurer for many years. Mike also loved watching and betting on all types of sports, and thoroughly enjoyed the act of betting in general. He had a love-hate relationship with Google and often stated how incredible it was to have the ability to prove/disprove a bet through a short internet search, but equally missed the opportunity to have a heated debate on the facts of the bet.
He is survived by his wife Monica, his children Derek and Pasley, his sisters Shirley Goddard and Beverly Mandeville, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life ceremony, details on the timing and location will be provided at a later date.
