Lucas, Maureen
April 28, 1942 – June 2019
Maureen passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side after a brief illness. She was a well-known long-time resident of Port Alberni.
Maureen was predeceased by her husband Graham & parents Ken & Annie Newton, she is survived by her daughter Linda Gardiner, son Glenn (Lisa) Lucas, her loving grandchildren Michael, Cody (Heather), Bryce (Kandace), Rikki (Brad), Jade, Abby, Jaime & Rylan and her great-grandchildren Forrest & Maddox.
Maureen was born in Robb, Alberta where she loved the majestic mountains. As a teenager she & her parents moved the Island and this is where she met the true love of her life, Graham. She had a big heart of gold, filled with unconditional love for her family, who she always made time for. She was a social butterfly who had a smile for everyone, loved to laugh, joke. Music and dancing with Graham at any social party was one of her favourite things to do. She loved boating down the canal & later the Legion Cruise became an annual favorite pastime. She truly was a woman who enjoyed the simple things in life & ‘the Valley’.
Maureen & Graham shared a passion for Ty Watson House, they ran the meat draw at the Kingsway hotel for several years and that made her heart sing! She was everyone’s friend where she was affectionately known as Mo, Mom or Mamma.
Maureen will always be remembered for her kindness, big generous heart, considerate & giving nature.
There will be a Celebration of Life for this beautiful woman at the Royal Canadian Legion, on June 30th 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, which would have been Maureen & Grahams 56th wedding anniversary.
Graham and Maureen are dancing again!
