March 21, 1948 – June 17, 2019
Marvin was born in Enderby in 1948 & was the second youngest of seven children of
Michael & Bertha. Marvin married Sandra in 1967. He is survived by Sandra, daughter
Janine & her sons, Jaxxon & Jace, daughter Rhonda (Jeremy) & their children, Reid &
Erica, son Bradley (Kathy) & their children, Brooke & Hudson.
After high school, he did his carpentry apprenticeship & worked as a carpenter until
Riverside Forest Products hired him as a heavy-duty mechanic where he worked for 16
years. In 1982, he started working for Valley Tool & Enderby Manufacturing. Here,
he designed, managed & manufactured Skylead Logging Equipment. Marvin took over the
business in 2002 & diversified the business into multiple different industries.
Marvin leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten by family, friends & the
members of his community. He always put his family first, & that was his biggest
accomplishment. He believed in not just handing things over to his kids, but made it
his priority to teach, laugh & experience with them.
His footprint is left all around Enderby. The Hunter’s Range chalet, Mabel Lake
Golf Course, Enderby Riverwalk & arena, as well as the Rivermouth boat launch are
touched with his creations. When it came to work, Marvin was the most committed
worker there was. He believed & taught his employees & children that if you are
going to do something, do it right the first time. He was the ultimate problem
solver & was the definition of patience, ingenuity, & perseverance. Customers would
go to ‘Marvelous Marv’ when no one else could help them…….& he always delivered.
His most precious time was spent at “Skuttlebutt Lodge”; the cabin at Mabel Lake
where early mornings were spent fishing with Brad or the grandkids & Smarties &
Oreo’s were the standard breakfast served on the barge that he built. Life lessons
about the fish, birds, & trees were taught & so many special memories were made.
Although Marvin wasn’t the most openly affectionate person, he showed his love to
his wife, Sandra, daughters Janine & Rhonda, & son Bradley through his actions. He
was the ultimate provider & was a hero to his children & grandchildren.
A service was held on June 22, 2019 at the Splatsin Centre in Enderby, BC.
