Marie was born in Moncton, N.B. and worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia. In 1960, she married George Gouthro and moved to Toronto where she gave birth to her two daughters. She worked at a number of banks in Toronto until the family moved to Ottawa in 1966. Marie worked for Guarantee Trust for a number of years before acquiring a position with the Federal Government in Public Works where she remained until her retirement in 1995. When not working, Marie devoted her time to her family; much of it attending her daughters sporting events on the bench as team mother. She and her husband moved to the Kemptville area in 1989, where they became active members of the community and forged many treasured friendships. Marie volunteered for the Breakfast Club at Holy Cross school and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Actons Corners. She also volunteered at the Kemptville District Hospital Gift Shop and Heydays. Marie was a lifetime member of the Friends of the North Grenville Public Library in Kemptville. Marie’s Family would like to commend the Hospital Staff at the Ottawa Hospital Neurology Deptartment, Civic Campus for their excellent care! Our Sincere appreciation is extended to the Nurses and Staff of the Kemptville District Hospital. Their help and compassion were immeasurable.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Marie’s Life at the Kemptville Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 1 pm to 4 pm. Donations made to Kemptville District Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated.
