Wagenaer: Lucien Kamiel (Lou)
A resident of Chatham, Lou Wagenaer passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in his 87th year.
Born in Belgium on May 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Alfons & Eveline (nee Baert) Wagenaer.
Beloved husband of 58 years to the late Suzanne (nee DeBock, 2014).
Loving father of Linda & Ken Macdonald of Caledon, and Sheila & Larry Balkwill of Chatham.
Grandpa of Carolyn Dyer (Wayne Potter), Christopher Dyer (Patricia Wolff-Dyer), Larry Jr., Katie, & Matthew Balkwill.
Brother of Mary (the late John) Chorba & late Roger Wagenaer (Linda Wagenaer), both of Chatham.
Predeceased by an infant brother in Belgium.
Survived by many nieces & nephews.
Lou owned & operated Lou’s Coin & Stationary for 22 years and was the only surviving founding member of the Kent Coin Club. He was a life member and President for 53 years. Lou enjoyed watching his grandkids play baseball and hockey.
Family to receive friends on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 pm & 7:00 – 9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Liturgy of Lou’s life will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Wednesday. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
