Obituary of John Knight
Our world has changed forever as we say goodbye to John or simply J – a dedicated son, kind brother, cherished friend, adored husband and loving father. After travelling what felt like being on a runaway train, John lost his battle to ALS on June 17, 2019, having just turned 60 years only weeks before. You travelled this journey with courage every day, and we admired you for your ability to live one day at a time through these incredibly tough months.
Your genuine soul inspired us, your quick and gentle smile embraced us, and your deep love of family and friends was to be admired. We knew you often as “safety bear” or the voice of reason over the years, you always strived for the best and found it in others. You were frequently found staring at the sky, your love for aviation ran deep as did your love of boating and golfing.
John passed away with his family and friends by his side, surrounded by love. He was overwhelmed and humbled with the love and support that helped carry him over these past months.
You were loved immensely by your wife and partner of 35 years, Tammy and two sons Matthew and Daniel. You were admired by your many nieces and nephews, as the fun and gentle uncle. Zuko and Bonnie will miss their treasured and patient walks.
Nothing made him happier than to talk about his boys – Matthew and Daniel were the light in his soul that carried him every day. We will all miss you beyond words.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orléans on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, June 23rd, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
A celebration of life will take place at 4 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel, followed by a reception. Please feel welcome to join us, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the ALS Society of Ontario would be appreciated.
