It is with great sadness that the daughters of Jennie Nienhuis announce her passing on Sunday, June 23, 2019.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Kelly and Diane; her grandsons: Duncan, Jacob and Declin; her surviving siblings: Cora, Louise, Arlene, Bill, Gladys, Annette, Faye, and Alfred; her surviving in-laws: Henk and Ann and all their families as well as her innumerable friends.
She was preceded by her loving husband, Robert; her parents, Gerrit and Clara; her brother, Harvey; her parents-in-laws, Pieter and Catherine and her brother & sisters- in-law, Wilma, Jack and Sharon.
Jennie was much loved for her quiet and generous nature. She volunteered with baseball teams, bowling leagues and Local 488‘s retired members association and she was always there to help her family. Jennie had a great love for nature, which she expressed through her gardening, in her love of birds and by her travel destinations. Her sense of adventure took her through much of Canada, the US and the Caribbean, as well as to far off locations such as Australia and western Europe, parts Africa and South America, Easter Island and the Galapagos Islands, and even to Antarctica and the Arctic Circle.
A Funeral Service will be led by Jennie’s brother-in-law, Henk at Connelly-McKinley, St. Albert Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019. An internment at Northern Light Cemetery will be followed by a reception at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Capital Care Norwood-Hospice:

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Grey Nuns hospital and the Norwood palliative care unit and to all those that visited and sat with her through her final days.
