It is with sadness yet appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Fernand “Pete” J. Pitre, loving husband of Mea (Lecours) Pitre, announces his peaceful passing that occurred on Tuesday June 25, 2019 at his residence. Born 1930 in Eel River Crossing, NB, he was the son of the late Emanuel and Christine (Nadeau) Pitre.
Pete was employed with CNR in Campbellton and Moncton for over 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was a talented woodcarver and an avid Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his loving wife Mea of 66 years, he is survived by his brother Dennis Pitre of Dieppe; sister Madeleine Pitre of Laval, QC; special sister-in-law Nancy Martin of Saint John and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Maurice and Israel; sisters Therese, Marcia and Marie.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. with visitation being held on Friday June 28, 2019 from 9-11am. A Funeral Liturgy will follow in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in his memory may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church or the charity of one’s choice.
