My mom’s lasts words to me were “take care of your dad, take care of everyone for me”. I promised I would! Eva handed off that responsibility on June 20th, 2019, and it is with heartbreak and profound sadness that we announce her passing. Eva was born June 17th, 1941 in a small village in Hungary. She attended elementary school with a shy little boy with a gleam in his eye. In 1957 her family escaped Hungary and immigrated to Canada. That shy little boy followed her and their great love story began. Joe and Eva married January 30th, 1960 and were together for nearly 60 years. They settled their family in Canfield, Ontario and worked side by side farming on the homestead to the day of her passing. If there was one thing my mom taught us, it was to love each other. Her family was the most important priority in her life. Mom was the hardest working, strongest woman & most beautiful soul I’ll ever meet in my life, and for that I am grateful & blessed. Eva leaves behind the love of her life, Joseph Laszlo. Children, Rosemary (Joel) Cote, Joseph, Jim (Karey) and Judy (Tony) Hozjan. Incredibly loved grandma of Victoria and Alexandra Kempen. Grandmother of Shannon Laszlo, Joseph Laszlo, Rebecca and Josh Cote. Great grandmother of Noah and Navaeh. Predeceased by her Mother and Father, Paulina and John Mendler and her Stepmother Lena Mendler. Predeceased by her brothers Peter (Judy) and Fred (Betty). Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. She will be tremendously missed by everyone who knew her kindness and love. Please join the family for visitation in the MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, Cayuga, on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. to celebrate the wonderful legacy of love that she has left us with, with a prayer vigil to be held at 4p.m. A funeral Mass will take place in St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Cayuga, on Friday, June 28, at 11a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Cemetery. ( 681 Mud St E, Stoney Creek, ON) Donations to the Parish of St. Stephen’s Church would be appreciated by the family.
