Edith Mae Tobin
Sydney Mines
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Edith Mae Tobin, 94 years young, on Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 31, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Marjorie (Strickland) Ford.
Mom was the glue that held us all together. Going down to Ma’s was always a pleasure, and she enjoyed everyone who took the time to visit. She was a great lady who will be sadly missed by all of us.
Mom is survived by her sons Buddy (Carol), Freddy (Debbie), Danny (Linda), all of Sydney Mines, and Dennis (Geralyn) Alberta, and daughters Marjorie and Susan (Bryan) Cullen, Sydney Mines. Mom was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her brother Henry (Shirley) Ford, Sydney, and brother-in-law Gerald Tobin (Sydney Mines).
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Emmanuel Tobin, daughter Linda Boutilier, grandson Aaron Tobin, son-in-law Joseph Wassilaskus, brothers Jimmy (Heather), George (Pearl), Walter (Marg), and John, sisters Edna (Eric) Jones, Agnes Ford, Nora (Cecil) Tobin, and sister-in-law Jackie Tobin.
To the nurses and staff of the 5th Floor, Northside General Hospital, you took great care of Mom in her short stay. A special thank you to Dr. Michel and Louise McKeough for all the years of caring for Mom.
Visitation for Edith Mae Tobin will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A celebration of her life will take place Monday at 10 am in Holy Family Church, with Fr.
