Brenda’s Obituary
CREELMAN, Brenda Lynn ~ age 69, of Berwick, passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with her two loving daughters by her side on April 21, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Filson Keddy and Aileen (McCarthy) Keddy. She was born at Berwick Memorial Hospital on January 12, 1950. Smart, kind, and a natural hard-worker, she grew up in Kingston with her sister Diane. She picked beans and berries, skied the local slopes at Twin Oaks each year until they turned mud, and spent summers at the family cottage on Trout Lake. For her 16th birthday, her father gave her the freedom of an old, sky-blue Volkswagen Beetle to share with her sister. At 18 years old, she moved to Halifax to become a nurse. She met the love of her life at a dance—Corporal John Francis “Frank” Creelman of the Canadian Air Force. Four years later, she married him. While stationed in Baden Baden, Germany (1973-1977) she had two daughters not quite two years apart, Kelly then Kamy. Brenda was the anchor of her small, military family. With each new posting, she made a new home. After Germany, she moved to Summerside, PE (1977-1980); Greenwood, NS (1980-1987); Ottawa, ON (1988-1997); and then back to Greenwood, NS where Frank retired in 2009. Frank’s career decided when and where she moved, but Brenda never let it limit her own career. She was a Registered Nurse at several hospitals, Director of Nursing at Bearbrook Court Retirement Home (Ottawa, ON) Director of Nursing at Wolfville Retirement Home (Wolfville, NS), and a Licensing Officer for the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services (Kentville, NS). Brenda loved biking, golfing, and curling. She is survived by her brother-in-law Ron Sampson; nieces Gail Sampson and Cheryl Hamilton; nephews Halley Hamilton; Jason Hamilton and Stephen Sampson; great nieces and nephews Paxten, AnnaWen, Jack, and Elliot Sampson. The Creelman Legend continues with her wonderful daughters, Kelly (Sean) Francois, Dartmouth; Kamy Creelman, Halifax; and her precious granddaughters Lily and Leia Francois. By request, funeral arrangements will include a graveside service only, notice of which will be announced at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch; and Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Alison Wellwood and her staff who supported Brenda throughout this difficult journey. The family would like to thank the Staff on Medical B at Valley Regional Hospital for their outstanding care and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
