Herman Alonzo Murphy
1937-2019
Murphy, Herman Alonzo Age 82, of
Larry’s River, Guysborough Co., passed away on June 23,
2019, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. He was a son of the late Angus
«John» and Clara (Pellerin) Murphy. Herman attended
Antigonish High School and St. Francis Xavier University. He was
employed at Commercial Cable in Hazel Hill, St. Michael’s
Hospital Detox, Toronto, returning home in the 80’s to
manage Murphy’s General Store for almost 30 years, closing
due to health issues. He enjoyed a good conversation and maybe a bit
of political argument. He is survived by step-son, Michael Crowe,
Vancouver, B.C. and brother, Reverend Douglas Murphy, Sydney. He was
predeceased by his wife, Bobbie who passed away July 6, 2015.
Visitation will be held in Communities Along the Bay Multipurpose
Centre, Bradford Pellerin Room, Larry’s River on Tuesday
from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St.
Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Larry’s River with
Rev. Douglas Murphy officiating. Burial to follow in the parish
cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s
Parish or Guysborough Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Funeral
arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W.
