Theo Van Nes, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Stratford General Hospital. He was born in Hamersveld, Holland on June 16, 1930 and is the son of the late Jacobus and Matilda (Blom) Van Nes. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and farmed at RR 1 Stratford his entire life. Beloved husband of the late Regina (Verhoef) Van Nes. Dear father of Matilda and John Nyenhuis, Tim and Julie Van Nes, James and Jane Van Nes, Pete and Dian Van Nes and Lawrence and Tracy Van Nes. He will be sadly missed by his 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is remembered by his brothers Harry and wife Marijke Van Nes, Jack Van Nes and sister-in-law Betty Van Nes. He is predeceased by his sisters Rita Baker and husband Fred, Alice Van Dyk and husband Jim, his brothers Henk Van Nes and Bill Van Nes and wife Margaret and sister-in-law Theresa Van Nes, his nephew Nick Van Nes and great-niece Amy Matheson. Also predeceased by 5 sisters-in-law, their spouses and a nephew in Holland. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph`s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford, on Saturday, May 11th at 11 a.m. Interment in Avondale Cemetery followed by a reception at the Festival Inn, 1144 Ontario Street, Stratford.
