Spencer was born in Trail, to Bobby and Tami Donaldson of Fruitvale, BC. He passed away in a tragic accident in Thailand on April 13, 2019. God gifted Spencer to us, and in return we dedicated him to the Lord. Now at the appointed time, He has called him home and we release him back to God. We were blessed with 25 beautiful years.
Spencer graduated from J. Lloyd Crowe in 2012. Following his post-secondary education, Spenny was thrilled to return to his hometown, close to his family and friends. He worked as a Steam Engineer for Teck and took great pride as a new homeowner in Fruitvale. He enjoyed quading, snowmobiling, camping, golfing, hunting, and working on his many toys. Spending time outdoors, surrounded by friends and family, would be Spenny’s description of a perfect day.
Spencer was known for his quick wit, soft heart, and charismatic story telling abilities. His friends remember him as the “voice of reason”, and even jokingly referred to him as “dad”. Often times, his persistent dedication to doing what he thought was right, led to many thought-provoking conversations.
He had a passion for his family and friends, including his girlfriend Sydney, and dog Milo. His smile could light up a room and bring any group of people together for a good time, on Spenny time.
Spencer was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cal and Beryl Bellmond, and Allan Donaldson.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents Bob and Tami Donaldson, girlfriend Sydney Hamm, grandmother Isabelle Donaldson and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will also be greatly missed by his dog Milo, who continues to stare patiently up the driveway at quitting time or when he hears a diesel truck driving through the valley.
Spencer’s family would like to thank their friends and community for all of the continued love and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Spencer Donaldson Legacy Fund” at any Kootenay Savings Credit Union or via e-transfer to donaldsonlegacyfund@gmail.com. The funds will be used to support educational opportunities for underprivileged students in Canada and abroad.
A celebration of Spencer’s life will be held at the Fruitvale Memorial Hall on May 11th, 2019 at noon. In honour of Spencer, please feel free to wear plaid, camo, or his favourite colour orange to the service. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
