Sarah Jeannie Etok McDonald, 64, of D’Escousse NS formerly of Kangiqsualujjuaq in Northern Quebec, passed away peacefully surrounded by family April 30th 2019 at 7:02PM while in the Strait Richmond Hospital NS.
Born in Kuururjuaq, daughter of the late Moses and Clara (Emuk) Etok, she was an elementary school teacher in her home community, later moved to Kuujjuaq to start a family, then found her forever home in D’Escousse NS where she ran a Bed and Breakfast for good number of years. She also participated in operating a caribou outfitting camp in Northern Quebec, and was an aircraft maintenance apprentice for many years.
She is survived by husband of 41 years Allen Charles McDonald, daughter Shelly Louise Clara Etok Surette (Giles) and granddaughter Minya Sarah Surette. She had 2 step-children she was very fond of, Nina and Sean McDonald and siblings Susie, Maggie, Johnny, Jessie, Mary, Adamie, Jamie, Penina and Nancy Etok. Predeceased by infant siblings Susie, Harry and Eva.
There will be a celebration of Sarah’s Life on Sunday May 5th 2-4 and 7-9 at Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St. Port Hawkesbury.
The family request that Memorial donations in Sarah’s memory be made to the Canadian Diabetes Research Fund.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St. Port Hawkesbury.
