Roberta Dahlin
March 31, 1929 – April 29, 2019
Roberta Dahlin, beloved wife of the late Stanley Dahlin of Norquay, SK, passed away at the Kamsack Nursing Home on April 29, 2019, at the age of 90 years.
Roberta was born to Roy and Ethel (nee Watts) Foster on March 31, 1929 in the Maloneck District (north of Pelly, SK); she was the third youngest of 12 children. She received her education in Maloneck School. Following school, Roberta worked for Pauline and Elmer Ham, and then at the Norquay Post Office. She met Stan Dahlin during this time, and they were married on October 30, 1948. Together they farmed south of Norquay.
Roberta also worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Norquay Hospital. Her main career was as a clerk in the grocery industry. Even though ownership changed hands four times, Roberta worked at the same store for many years on the corner of Main and Railway in Norquay. Following this career, she started catering for many events in Norquay and surrounding area, and serving food at the lunch counter in Norquay Auction Mart. A very hard worker, her motto was ‘hard work never killed anyone.’
Roberta’s joy was her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; she looked forward to visits from her family and she loved when the family could all be together.
Roberta had a passion for sewing, and taught herself to be an accomplished seamstress, sewing most of her own clothes, and clothes for her family. She also loved to quilt and made her last quilt in the spring of 2018.
Roberta will be remembered as a strong woman with a strong opinion; she will be missed by all who loved her.
Roberta was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Ethel Foster; her husband, Stan; her brothers: Theodore, Forrest, Gloyd, Albert, Clifford, Walter and Orval; sisters, Inez Haskin, Chelta Larson, and Cora Apperley; brothers-in-law: Bert Larson, Frank Apperley and Gordon Dahlin and sisters-in-law: Agnes, Jean, Beryletta, Florence Foster and Ruth Dahlin. She leaves to mourn her sons: Rick (Livia) and Ken (Velda), both of Norquay, SK, and daughter, Crystal (Jim) of Oak Lake, MB; her granddaughters: Rebekah (Chris) Robb of Norquay, and Katelyn (Danny) Randall of Yorkton; her grandsons: Brice (Linda) of Norquay and Craig (Michelle) of Prince Albert, SK.; her great-grandchildren: Shay and Aubrey Randall; Ame (Arran) Hamilton of Saskatoon; Reece, Aidan and Sierra Dahlin of Norquay; her great-great grandchildren: Maddux and Jaxon Hamilton; her brother, Dawson (Faye) Foster of Swan River, MB; her sisters-in-law, Pauline Foster of Swan River and Joyce (Earl) Bernard of Norquay, and brother-in-law, Irv (Jan) Dahlin of Roseville, California; as well
