It is with heavy but joyful hearts that the family of Murray Elliott Porter announce that he is now with his Lord and Savior. On April 30, 2019 at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by his loving family, he peacefully departed this life and left behind his loving wife, Betty Porter (Chipman). He was born in Saint John on July 27, 1931 and was the son of the late Bernard and Jenny Porter (Frozel).
Dad was a loving, hard working husband, father and friend who always provided for his family by working as a Long Shoreman at the Port. He then spent many years as a machine operator at Canada Wire and Cable and then finished his career with NBDOT, working on the construction of Highway #1. When not working, dad enjoyed taking us camping and enjoying life. He loved to listen to music and had an interest in collecting records and musical instruments and then later, collecting model trains.
He is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Harold and Bernard, Dorothy Boyer, Nettie MacDonald and Carlotta Ekstrom and is only survived by his sister, Shirley Prosser. His children who will never forget and cherish the memories are Linda (Hartley) Cogswell, Glen (Gina) Porter, Dwayne (Tina) Porter and Twyla Fitzgerald (Michael Taylor). The grandchildren who will miss him are Jolene (Matthew) Hayward, Jason (Rachel) Cogswell, Jordan Cogswell, Josh Porter, Jocelyn (Thomas) Wallace, Ashley (Silvio Macaulay), Kelly and Megan Porter and Justin Fitzgerald. His great grandchildren are Jaxson and Myah Hayward and Emma and Alexa Cogswell.
The arrangements and viewing is at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road on May 2, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Please join us on May 3, 2019 at 10:30am to rejoice and celebrate his life at the Fundamental Baptist Church on 1170 Sand Cove Road. Due to flower allergies, any memorial donations can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or the Little Lepreau Cemetery.
