Obituary of Molly Cyr
Marilyn “Molly” Wilma Cyr, 75, of Westville, passed away peacefully on Monday May 13, 2019, surrounded by family at the Aberdeen Hospital, in New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Annie “Catherine” (MacDonald) Cameron.
Molly was a kind-hearted woman with a caring spirit, a bright smile and a gentle word for all. She was a talented cook and baker, who’s delicious biscuits, cinnamon rolls and pies were always a popular request. It was Molly’s joy to share her culinary talents with thousands of children, as she worked for 34 years in many school cafeterias in Pictou County. She loved to go camping with her family every summer all around Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and in later years, spending time at the camp in Guysborough County. But there was nothing that Molly enjoyed more than spending time with her beloved husband Ralph, and with her family, to whom she dedicated herself tirelessly. Her grandchildren were her precious gems, and she held a special place in her heart for each of them.
Molly is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ralph; daughters Susan Cyr (Kirk) Trenton; Tanya Carrigan (Johnnie) Durham; Marie Cyr (Carson) Saltsprings; and son Trevor (Beth), Plymouth. She is also survived by sisters Rose Brightman, Westville; Lillian Shaw, Greenhill; Faye Booth (Reg), New Glasgow; brothers Cyril O’Connor, Kenzieville and Hugh Cameron (Barb), Sylvester; sisters in law Mae O’Connor, Stellarton and Jean O’Connor, Fraser’s Mountain; 7 grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Molly was predeceased by sisters Kathleen Trefry, Louise MacKenzie; brothers Phillip O’Connor, Charles O’Connor, Jerry O’Connor; brothers-in law, John Visser, Gary Shaw, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Heartfelt thanks and gratitude are extended to Dr. Clarke and his team in the Neurology department of the QEII for their hard work and dedication, and the staff of the palliative care unit of the Aberdeen Hospital for their caring, comfort and support.
Family will be receiving visitors on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. There will be no funeral service by request. Donations may be made in Molly’s memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Molly
