It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Voykin on April 24, 2019 in Castlegar, BC.
Mary was born May 13, 1931 in Grand Forks, BC to parents William and Polly Pudmoreff.
Mary’s worked as a cook at Raspberry Lodge Care Home and also at Clay Castle with Norm Wolfe. She attended Selkirk College and graduated from a Home Support upgrading course and worked as a Home Support Worker with Castlegar Home Support.
Mary loved gardening. She spent many hours in her vegetable garden lovingly tending her plants and beautiful flowers. Mary also did a lot of sewing and crocheting slippers, blankets and dishcloths for everyone. She loved having company and cooking a delicious Russian meal for family and friends.
Mary attended New Life Church and daily prayer meetings. She was a very loving, kind and gentle lady. She loved her family very much. Mary always prayed for her family, friends and the needs of others. Her greatest love was her Lord and Savior Jesus and she shared His love with everyone.
Mary and Alex traveled to Cuba twice.
Mary is lovingly survived by her children Marion Archambault, Barry (Dorothy) Sherstobitoff, Lorrie (Tim) Conn, Debbie Sherstobitoff, Joanne (Kevin) New, her grandchildren Kerry (Kerwin) Allen, Tracy (Joel) Madge, Jamie (Michelle) Griffith, Amelia Siik, Eden Sherstobitoff, Tatiana Conn, Emmalee Conn, great-grandchildren Timothy, Avery (Shelaynie), Levi, Luke, Frederick, Shelby, Mitchell, Emily, and Charley, her great-great-granddaughter Maggie, her sister Lucy Jmayoff and family, brother in law George Horkoff and family, the Sherstobitoff Families: Alex, Katie and family, Louie, Norma and family, Freddy Sherstobitoff, and the Voykin family.
Mary was predeceased by her parents William and Polly Pudmoreff, first husband and father of her children Mike Sherstobitoff, second husband Alex Voykin, sister Patsy Horkoff, granddaughter Kristy-Dawn Allen, sons-in-law Tim (Buff) Allen and Ari Siik.
Funeral Service will be Monday, May 6, 2019, 12:30pm at the New Life Church, 602-7th Street, Castlegar, BC.
In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Parkinson’s Research at www.parkinson.ca/research/
