Mary Bernice Dewolfe
1953-2019
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of
Mary Bernice Dewolfe, 66 of Port Williams on May 1, 2019 in the QEII
Hospital, Halifax. She was predeceased by her parents Charles Allen
and Lois (Bea) Morine, step-parents Etta Allen and Francis Russell, an
infant brother, Joe and brother-in-law, Bobby Dewolfe. She was a
loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law,
aunt and friend, who will be remembered for her unconditional love,
patience, and kindness. She grew up in Canning, and attended Woodside
School, Canning School and Cornwallis District High School where she
graduated. She worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Canning, and
retired to be a stay at home mother and care for her two daughters.
Mary loved baking sweets, doing jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with
her dog Shadow. She was a personal stylist and cut hair (or lack of
hair) for many brothers-in-law and her husband. She also enjoyed trips
to Tim Horton’s and Frenchys in her free time. In the
summer, she loved spending time at her husband’s family
cottage at Medford Beach, however; hated the mosquitoes that
were always attracted to her. She was a soccer fan and always watched
her daughter and granddaughter’s games. Mary was very smart
and witty, with an incredible sense of humor. She loved to tease and
always had a quick comeback to any situation. She was a spiritual
person, and believed there was life after death. She is survived by
her husband Bill Dewolfe, Port Williams; daughters, Shelley (Randy
Geddes), Waterville and Debbie (Chad Corbin) Kentville;
granddaughters, Kristen Bennett, Canning; Chloe Grant, Port Williams;
grandson, Andrew Scott, Waterville; brother, Richard Allen (Barb),
Lumsdens Dam; sisters, Gayleen Connelly (Ken Toth), Kitchener,
Ontario; Gloria Porter (Terry), Canning; Deborah Bigelow (Earl
Parker), South Rawdon; Cheri Dandurand, Edmonton Alberta;
step-brothers, Eugene Manley (Linda), Wayne Manley, and Reg Manley.
She is also survived by nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law
and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation has taken place. There
will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. A Celebration of
Life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the family cottage at
Medford Beach for family and friends. Donations in memory may be made
to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Valley Regional
Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the
White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
