John Williams
1935-2019
John Williams, 83, of Forest Dale Home went to be with his
Saviour on May 27th, 2019. He passed away peacefully in his
sleep.
John was born in Montreal on August 12, 1935 the son of
Patrick and Mabel (Mayall)
Williams.
John’s life began in Montreal; he then moved to New Brunswick
where his life was changed forever. He found his Lord and
Saviour and also met his wife, Betty. Betty was a
christian who had a way of not judging people; she and John had a very
special relationship. They worked together at Camp L’Allee
Verte which was a christian camp for young people. John
would want everyone to know, if the Lord could help him, he can help
anyone. His testimony was from the heart as he touched many
people’s lives when he shared his life’s story. He was an
active member and Deacon of the Lower Cape Baptist Church.
He loved to sing and belonged to the Silver Chords and the Men’s
Choir. He was committed to helping the Elizabeth
Fry Society and volunteered countless hours at the Karing
Kitchen. John and Betty were avid bowlers and
belonged to a bowling league for many years. John was also a
member of the Hillsborough Seniors Club. He was a true
Montreal Canadiens fan. He loved to laugh and tease and have
fun; he was always carrying on with
everyone. John felt blessed to have been taken in,
not only by Betty but by all her family and extended family.
He thanked God everyday for the way his life was turned
around. His message would be clear today, life is not always
easy but when you turn to the Lord, life can be great.
Prayer changes things- Believe.
Romans 5:8 « But God demonstrates his own love for us in
this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for
us. »
John was the last surviving member of his immediate
family. He will be deeply missed by several nieces and
nephews, including a special niece in Montreal, Debbie McNamee (Vince)
and her family; also missed by Willis Steeves (Carol) of Lower Cape,
Bev Stevens (Dereck) of Lower Cape, Scott Steeves (Kelly) of Edgett’s
Landing and Susan Wilmot (Scott) of Lower Coverdale and their
families; by all his church family and many friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife,
Betty (2016) ; sisters, Margaret Mitchell and Ruth Morton; brothers,
Robert, Ronald, Leonard, Allan and Arthur.
The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral
Home on Friday, May 31st, 2019 at 2:00pm with Rev. James Hammond
officiating and Pastor Leonard Geldart assisting. There will
be a time of visitation, further fellowship and refreshments following
the service at the funeral home reception area. Interment
will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape,
NB.
For those who wish, donations to the Lower Cape Baptist
Church would be greatly appreciated.
The family
would like to say a very special thank you to the staff of Forest Dale
Home for the excellent care and kindness shown to John over the past
few years. They went above and beyond; it will never be
forgotten.
