Obituary for Mr. Jake Bylemeer
Jake passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton at the age of 87 years. He was born in Ter Aar, Netherlands on January 29, 1932 and came to Canada in 1956.
Jake is survived by his wife of 63 years Barb; his daughters Evelyn (Wayne), Bonnie (Morgan); grandchildren Stacey (Brent), Lannie (Erin), Jaime (Trevor) and Travis; great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Lane), William, Ethan, Clyde, Kate, Hunter, Brooke and Sawyer; great-great-granddaughter Harper; sisters Toos and Anna, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jake was predeceased by his parents Albertus & Geertruida, as well as his siblings Niek, Ria, Gerda, Bep, Rita, Polly and Truus.
Jake’s many jobs over the years included farming, ranching, raising and racing thoroughbreds, driving school bus and operating a gas station. He was a member of the local Lions Club for 10 years and served on Nanton town council from 1992 – 1995. He enjoyed curling and fishing.
As per Jake’s wishes, no funeral will be held, but there will be a Come and Go Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Kozy Korner, 2211 – 20th Street, Nanton, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jake’s memory to Claresholm and District Health Foundation, P.O. Box 2638, Claresholm, AB T0L 0T0 or the Mosquito Creek Foundation, P.O. Box 40, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0.
