Henry “Hank” Zoer,
of Drayton, passed away peacefully at Caressant Care, Arthur on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the age of 90.
Beloved husband of Grace (Bos), with whom he celebrated their 65th anniversary this past January. Father of Trudy and Harry Spaling of Edmonton, Alberta; Jane and Jerry Chilla of Ava, Missouri; Frank and Stephanie Zoer of Clifford, Ontario; Barbara and Roger Ganley of Leduc, Alberta; Marlene and John Ottens of Moorefield, Ontario; and Jeff and Kim Zoer of Palmerston, Ontario. Also fondly remembered by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Hank and Grace emigrated from the Netherlands in 1954 and eventually bought a farm in Peel Township, starting with cows and then pigs. Hank spent many hours at all the area stockyards.
They then built “the Spanish house” on the Elora Road and began their hobby of attending garage sales and auction sales in the region, which continued after they moved to Drayton. Every Saturday morning in the spring and summer, they got up at dawn to hit the sales in KW. Hank loved to wheel and deal, whether it was for a pricey antique or a 25-cent trinket.
A lifelong member of the Drayton CRC, Hank’s faith was an important part of his life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Drayton Christian Reformed Church, where the funeral will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11 am. Private family interment.
Memorial donations can be made in Hank’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society or World Renew.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Hank Zoer May 4 2019..
