It is with broken hearts that the family of the late
EDNA JANE CAKE of Fortune announces her
passing. Edna passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health
Center in Burin on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at the age of
88. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories
are her son, Melvin (Marilyn) Cake of Manuals, CBS; daughter, Sharon
Cake (Ira Hepditch) of Point Au Gaul; 6 grandchildren, Danny (Sheena)
Cake, Greg (Angie) Cake, Amanda (John) Byrne, Susan (Bob) Cake, Lorne
(Cindy) Walsh, and Chelsey Cake; 8 great-grandchildren, Reg, Hilda,
George, Claudia, Charles, Alex, Emily and Charlie; sisters, Pearl
(Don) Burton of Fortune, Florence Stacey of Grand Bank, Roberta
Pritchett of St. John’s, Laura Clarke of Twillingate, and
Audrey Bullerwell of London, ON; brother, Hubert Crews of London, ON;
sisters-in-law, Ruth Crews of CBS, Barbara (Merv) Rideout of CBS, and
Joan (Len) Vallis of Nova Scotia; special homecare worker, Annie
Haskell of Grand Bank; plus a large circle of extended family and
friends. Edna was predeceased by her husband, George Cake;
brother, Alfred Crews; sister, Violet Hillier; and parents, Kenneth
& Charlotte Crews.
The Cake Family will be
accepting visitors at All Saints Anglican Church in Fortune on
Wednesday, May 8th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.;
and Thursday, May 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00
p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May
10th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from All
Saints Anglican Church in
Fortune.
In Edna’s memory donations may be made to a
charity of one’s choice or flowers gratefully
accepted.
