Dainis in his 80th year, passed away at Georgian Bay Hospital on Monday, May 20, 2019 after a long hard fought battle against the unknown, with his beloved wife Helen (nee Thomas) there beside him every day.
He began his manufacturing career at Otis Elevator and after 24 years decided he needed to move on continuing in the manufacturing operations world and striving to push each company towards its ultimate goal, aerospace being his favourite.
He was extremely proud of his two successful sons, Michael (Lesia) and Paul (Joanne) and a happy « Pop » to Michael’s children, Nikki (15), Kourtney (13) and one and only grandson Brett (10).
He was fortunate to marry into a large family, although he didn’t always think so, and inherited many nieces and nephews and sister-in-laws Doris (who called him « the financial guru »), Bette and Margaret.
To retire to our cottage north country was the goal, but not before making it a proper home. Finally he had time to do what he loved best…making things grow! Working in the garden made him happy and the dahlias he nurtured each year were beautiful.
Dainis will now have time to rest, however, those that know him will expect he will be trying to improve things « up stairs » as he called it and trying to take charge! Rest easy my hon and soar with the eagles!
Cremation has taken place. Dainis’ favourite charity was Heart & Stroke if you wish to give in his name.
