Aubrey Donald « Don » Schofield
1957-2019
Aubrey Donald Schofield « Don » – age 61, of
Coldbrook passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville. Born on July 27, 1957, he was the son of the late
Aubrey and Geraldine Schofield. With the exception of a few years, Don
spent his entire life in the Annapolis Valley. Don will be deeply and
sadly missed by all who knew him. For the past 29 years, Don resided
with close friends and housemates, Deanna Penney (Blaine Chisholm);
Joe Gillis and Duane Muise. They shared many adventures, much laughter
and wonderful times together. He is also survived by Angie Henshaw,
the love of his life for over 25 years; his sister, Debbie; half
sister, Valerie; close friend Megan Samson and fur buddy, Paisley.
Throughout the years, Don worked at Plank ‘N Hammer (Plank
Industries) and the Flower Cart Group from where he retired in 2017.
After his retirement, Don truly became a man of leisure spending his
day exactly how he pleased. He enjoyed spending time with Angie,
walking at Acadia, listening to classic rock, watching movies, and
hanging out with Paisley. Until he became ill, Don volunteered at the
Fundy Food Bank, Kentville. He was a founding member of People’s
First, Kings County Chapter and for the past few years he was a member
of Light 4 Learning and was heavily involved in their fundraising
initiatives. Don was an athlete with the Kings West Hants Special
Olympics where, throughout the years, he was an enthusiastic bowler,
Bocce, soccer and ringette player. Don always looked forward to the
tournaments and Special Olympics Summer Games. He was proud of his
accomplishments and won many medals over the years. He loved to watch
his beloved Pittsburgh Penguins and was an avid fan, often ribbing his
friends if his team beat theirs. A memorial gathering will be held
from 2-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019 in the White Family Funeral
Home, Kentville. There will be no funeral service as per Don’s wishes
and a private graveside service will be held. Donations in memory of
Don can be made to Light 4 Learning, Kings County Special Olympics,
Fundy Food Bank, Kentville, or a charity of your choice. Funeral
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
