Douglas John Benjamin Phillips of Stratford Ontario, passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on Wednesday May 1st, 2019 at Ritz Lutheran Villa. He was born in Kirkton, Ontario on June 26th, 1927, the son of the late John Phillips and the former Lillias Schade. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jean (Marshall) Phillips. Doug will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his brother Robert Phillips, children Eugene Phillips and partner Patricia, Jacqueline and Jack Hyde, Marguerite and Paul Bryant, Robert and Anne Marie Phillips, Sarah and Gary Robinson, Jennifer Phillips and George Phillips and partner Yasuko. Remembered as « Papa, » to twenty grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his son Richard D. Phillips, his sister Joyce Puddicombe, and daughter-in-law Linda Phillips. Doug was a former employee at Stratford General Hospital and at Stratford Ambulance Services from 1968 until 1977 when he became an Owner/ Operator at Radio Cab and later at City Cab. At Doug’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private Interment will take place at a later date.
