Gilbert Lester Ivany, 93 of Sydney, passed away Saturday
May 18, 2019 surrounded by family in Harbourstone Enhanced
Care.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late William and
Daisy (Cake) Ivany.
Gilbert retired from Sydney Steel in 1984 after 40 years of
service. He enjoyed spending time at the family bungalow in Mira and
fishing with his buddy Bill. Gil was a kind and gentle man
who enjoyed a good laugh and lived life to the
fullest.
Gil is survived by his wife Dorothy (Hepditch), daughter
Linda (Robin) MacDonald, Sackville, NB, son David (Angela), Thunder
Bay, Ont., sister Lillian Jennings, Sydney, grandchildren Stacey,
Nolan, Brayden, Nicholas and great granddaughter Alexandra
.
He was predeceased by his sister Vera
Crane.
Visitation will take place Tuesday May 21, 2019 from 6 – 8
pm in Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held Wednesday,
May 22nd, 2019 at 11 am at the Church of Christ the King, with Rev.
Jackie Warren officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial
Gardens.
