Ralph MacLean – Orangedale NS
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our darling husband, father, grandfather, and papa (Ralph), age 76, who passed away peacefully at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial hospital on May 9th, 2019.
Born in Orangedale, he was the son of the late John Y and Cassie MacLean. Ralph was a strong, hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a fisherman and a lumberman all of his life and worked for DEVCO Oyster Fisheries for a number of years. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Florence (MacKinnon); his daughter Linda Campbell and her children Stephanie (Ryan), Patrick and Adam. Survived also by his daughter Lisa (John) and her children Arthur (Shannon), Jenelle (Angus) and Chelsea (Simon); also son Vincent and his sons Micheal (Kelly) and Kyle (Jackie). He is survived by his great grandchildren Savannah and Mitchell Covin (his cub) and their father Lionel. His great granddaughters Cassie and Maggie MacLean, and Rosie and Emily MacFadyen; his great grandsons, Brodie and Brayden MacLean. He is survived by brother Nelson (Shirley), Little Narrows, Edmund (Doris), Port Hawkesbury, and his most beloved fur babies, Brat and Bow.
He was predeceased by parents John Y and Cassie, his granddaughter Ashley Dawn MacFadyen, sisters Hughena, Kaye, and Annie Mae. Brothers Clarence, Dan, Willie, Alexander, and Freddie.
A graveside committal will be held at the Gillis Cove cemetery on Sunday, May 19th, at 3:00PM, lunch to follow at the Smith Community Centre, Orangedale.
Memorial donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
Special thanks to Lori-Ann MacDonald, Dr. Ritter, Dr. LaFrance, Dr. W. Saliba, all of the nurses who cared for Ralph at the hospital, and to all of those who visited and helped the family through this difficult time.
