William Charles Taylor Thursday April 11th 2019

WIlliam Charles Taylor
February 11, 1920 – April 11, 2019
Bill Taylor of Everglades Park, passed away in his 100th year. Bill lived a life of solitude and gratitude embraced by the backdrop of the Grand River. His kind heart and generosity will be sadly missed.
Owner of the Everglades Park, Glen Morris, Ontario, since 1942, Bill and his partner Hector (Bud) Hall built the small summer camp ground into a thriving year round mobile home park for seniors. Many of the park tenants saw Bill as their best friend, making this community a desired place for retirement.
Music was his passion, something he picked up in his teens buying his first clarinet from a pharmacy in Stratford, Ontario where he was born and raised. Playing the saxiphone, clarinet and flute with a smooth jazz style was a gift he provided to anyone who listened. He played in Stratford in the Bob Turner Band at the Blue Room; in the Johnny Kostigian band at Leisure Lodge, Preston; with the Over the Hill Gang in front of Watson’s Bazaar, at
the Queen’s Park Bandstand and on the Avon River barge in Stratford. His love for music and a thirst for knowledge kept his mind sharp until his passing this past week. Aside from being proprietor of Everglades Park, Bill worked at many jobs beginning at a machine shop in Cambridge, a bus driver, electrician and plumber, all of which he loved. His time working with Neil Sandilands of Glen Morris was a high point in his working career and alongside tenants Ross and Patricia Campbell, superintendents of the park and caregivers for Bill in his later years.
He is survived by his brother Jack (Marion) Taylor of Stratford, sister Doris Gladding of Tavistock, sister-in-law Connie Taylor of Guelph, daughter-in-law Lois (Jack) Aston of Orillia and Robert (Phyllis) Thompson of Bobcaygeon. Many loving nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances will dearly miss “Uncle Bill”.
Bill was predeceased by his parents William Taylor and Louisa (Shaw), his first wife Gwen (nee Dawson)
and second wife Isabel (nee Dawson); sister Louisa (Jack) Evans of Stratford, brother Harry Taylor of
Guelph and brother-in-law Bob Gladding of Tavistock.
Cremation has taken place at Kipp Funeral Home in Paris, Ontario and arrangements for a Celebration of
Life will be announced at a later date. Interment later Glen Morris Cemetery.
